The study of the heritage of St. Augustine in higher theological school of Russia (the second half of the 19th – early 20th century) N. Sukhova
The article provides an overview of the activities of Russian theological academies for the study of the heritage of St. Augustine in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century. In value Sankt-Augustine for the Russian theological tradition it is possible to allocate three aspects: 1) the inclusion of works by Augustine in the Russian-speaking space through transfers; 2) the influence of the ideas of St. Augustin on the Russian theologians – both directly and indirectly, through the ideas mainly through European theological currents of the 17-18th centuries; 3) study of the life and heritage of St. Augustine.
The author draws attention to the relevance of the ideas and methods of the Church of St. Augustine to solve the problems of the Russian Church of the 19th – early 20th century, in spite of the distance to the 15th centuries. Although not all themes that are important for St. Augustine were studied in Russian theology, the author identifies the most developed areas: Trinitarian, ecclesiological, anthropological; in the early 20th century – the historical-theological and pastoral-educational.
